Wazzup!

The job is not finished till the painting is done. My house is in a mess. It's a nightmare. Non-stop sweeping and mopping. Gosh! I am damn tired.
We have to return to work everyday due to the urgency to complete the basement level by early July. We have probably get used to camping overnight at our workplace. Now I know why we are not allow to take leave till the end of the year. Sorry folks, no reunion or party during this period.
No wonder they are putting an extra effort in cleaning the common area. I see, the Member of Parliament is visiting our block this evening. To be fair, this cleaning contractor has done a good job in maintaining the estate. Keep it up!

Facelift

Happy Vesak Day 2010 to our Buddhist friends.

Starting today, we are in the process of rejuvenating our home. Like I said in my earlier blog, we are working on a tight budget. Changing the light fittings, air conditioner system and painting take priority over other matter. I am sure the house will be brand new again. Mind you, that alone cost us thousands of dollar. We are not given a choice for the place is too run down.
With the coming air-con inverter system, we hope to save a little on the monthly electricity bill. That's a consolation. More importantly, all of us can be proud of this place we called home. Till then..............
Oops! One more thing before I sign off. For the record, Margaret is taking charge of this mission with our children assistance. As for me, I am not only busy on my project. It's damn bloody buuuuuusssssy!!!!!!

Young Singaporean

So what even if you are a graduate? There are plenty in the market. I am not discouraging educated youngsters but merely a reminder. It's alright to dream but not to get carried away. And to my children, it's high time they plot their career path too. I notice most of the present generation coming into the market lack discipline and drive. They are habitual late comers and have no initiative to work on their own. I could only sympathise with them. Blame it on the education system and the pampered lifestyle at home which built their laziness. I am worried that younger Singaporeans maybe swept aside by these young, educated foreign executives who are talented, hardworking and full of enthusiasm. Imagine this scenario that all our Cabinet Ministers are non Singaporean one day. It would be too late. So wake up you bloody youngsters ( my children inclusive ) or else........................

Love the life we live

For our generation, most of us didn't receive a single cent from our parents when we got married and started a family. We had to bring money home to support our parents instead. In actual fact, our miserable salaries had to fund our housing loan and feed three generations namely our parents, ourselves and our children. There were instances where we were jobless and the financial situation was real tight. Many a times where we were near doom and gloom, fate decided otherwise. Looking back, the setbacks helped to strengthen the bonds between me and my wife. We learned to appreciate and treasure each other more. Gosh...... those were the days.

What are you good at?

My wife once asked me what am I good at. This question was totally unexpected and I was dumb for a moment. I am not a handy man and hate handling tools like electric drill, screwdriver, hammer, etc. I dislike my technical education in my secondary days. What was my dream then? To be a bass guitarist in a popular group and a song writer. I knew this dream cannot be realised and my next ambition, to be a successful sales executive. I tried but gave up after 2 months selling air-cleaner. I didn't sell any and I said 'To hell with sales!" LOL.
Today, I came to enjoy my job as a Technical Officer in the Building Industry. Though it's not a prestigious career, it's challenging and satisfying. In the course of my work, I crossed path with prominent public personnel and professionals. I am dealing with front line staff from neighboring countries too. The most interesting group of people I met were the minority Educated Barbarians. Do you know what is Nightmare?
Okay, back to the question of what am I good at? Wah lao.... I am still searching for an answer. Definitely not a 'good-for-nothing'. Life is stressful enough. Give me a break. Btw, ask yourself what you are good at? Haha....

Boastful

It's okay to blah blah blah ...... Maybe that's a way to share our happiness, sadness, release our stress and frustration, etc. But it pissed me off whenever my loved ones got carried away with their arrogance in their conversation. They simply have no consideration for others. Forgetting their humble origins, the boasting gets bolder and the voices louder. I am at my wits' end about pointing this ugly truth to them. Needless to say, it hurts. I always think that Teochews like me are most boastful. Other dialects and races are no different for we are all human. Remember, the next time you feel like showing off............... DON'T. Show some respect and be kind to others even if you have achieved a little in life. I am sad for my pleas fall on deaf ears.....

Mother's Day 2010

By distance..
You are far from me!
By thoughts..
You are close to me!
By hearts..
You are in me!
Happy Mother's Day!

Special thanks to my dearest wife Margaret, for being a wonderful mother to Smily and Fyn. Best wishes to my mother-in-law Anna on this special day too. God bless.

I need a break

How I wish I could take a break......... somewhere peaceful and quiet. A never-never land would be ideal but such a place never exist on earth. As for people around us, it would be going against nature if everyone is kind and good. In short, we have to accept far from perfect people and live with them. Maybe that's what make life interesting.
Send in the crowns. I need them to make me laugh. Laughter is the way to good health and longevity. And my all time favourite comedians are the late Wang Sa and Ye Fong. Even my children enjoy their skits since their childhood days.
It's just minutes away to Mother's Day. We would like to wish all mothers (rich, poor, young and old) an advance 'Happy Mother's Day!' All of you are great and deserve this recognition.

Mircowave oven environment

Suckz! The heat waves rule. Returning to work after lunch with the temperature of 35 degrees Celsius is not a joke. I am talking about those working outdoor and they should be given a '2 hour' lunch instead. Imagine yourself working in a 'microwave oven environment'. It really freaks me out.

Even my home air-conditioner has become non-existent. My bedroom isn't cold but a little cooling when it's on. We have no choice but to order a 29 000 BTU air-conditioner for our 3 bedrooms. As it is an inverter system, we should be able to save a little on the electricity bill each month. Gosh! Need to bear with the discomfort till ....

Love quotes

Some people come into our lives, leave footprints in our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

God gave us eyes to see the beauty in nature..... and hearts to see the beauty in each other.

When I first saw you, I was afraid to meet you.
When I first met you, I was afraid to kiss you.
When I first kissed you, I was afraid to love you.
But now that I love you, I am afraid to lose you.

Just because one person doesn't love you don't mean you should forget about everyone else does...

The saddest thing in the world, is loving someone who used to love you.

Multiply it by infinity, take it to the depths of forever and you'll still only have a glimpse of how much I love you.

No man is truly married until he understands every word his wife is NOT saying.

Happy Labour Day

May Day, May Day! It's not a SOS but an announcement of Labour Day 2010. I was supposed to work into the night but strangely, my colleague stayed behind too. He asked to join me in my work. For he is a great talker, I worry that he may turn around and claim that I request his help. Sensing he was in need of the OT works, I gracefully let him took over my duty. What the heck! He called me at midnight with his problem at site. Eight hours has passed and I hope he is back home sound asleep.
Relax for it's a public holiday and I shouldn't be concern over work. I shall visit my salon to have my hair trimmed. Will keep the blog updated should there be further interesting events. Once again, take it easy and enjoy your long weekend. Cheerio.
