Ang Mo is coming !!!

This American Ang Mo is on his way to Singapore. He ain't a friend of mine or Margaret or Smily but Fyn. You won't believe that he is staying at my place for the next one and a half month or so. In  between, he is flying to Vietnam and Cambodia. My dear son has volunteer ...... not to share his room. Margaret and I would feel kind of awkward as this is the first time a stranger is living with us.
I wonder about the cultural differences and bet he is in for a rude shock. For those who have not been here, they would imagine Singapore as an island with a lot of kampong houses and coconut trees by the seaside. That's the feedback I got from my British, French and Portuguese friends.
Whatever, we wish to be a good host and sincerely hope he enjoys his memorable staycation here.

Heat waves return

Ice-cream party at Creamer Toa Payoh with Margaret, Smily and Fyn. The weather is freaking hot. Anything cold is welcome and ice-cream is a value added cooling stuff to the body. In fact, it is a luxury to enjoy this quality dessert at this cosy cafe. Last but not least, please remember to drink more water. 30 degrees Celcus at midnight is not a joke. Let us survive this heat waves in good health.

Happy Dumpling Day!

Happy Dumpling Day! I had my first dumpling of the year a few days back at my office. It's not my fancy anyway.

Oh dear! My mother-in-law fell down at home on Thursday and is hospitalised at TTSH. X-ray shows a few hairline crack at the pelvis. She is unable to walk. Other than that, she is alert and normal. Thank goodness, I managed to visit her last evening for they allow 4 visitors at one time. Let us pray for a speedy recovery. Get well soon, Anna!

Euro 2012 is on. As a English Premier League fan, I am supporting England all the way. Their quarter-final match will be against Italy tomorrow. Go, you bloody English men, go!

Father's Day 2012

Father's Day  lunch celebration with my family at SWA Garden Restuarant @ Macpherson. I am just a simple man and contented and happy just to have a meal with them. As a dad, I wish to see my children as self-reliant young adults at this stage. Go, venture and explore the opportunities in this crazy world. Over-protecting them can only bring more harm.

The sad thing is I had never celebrated this ocassion with my Dad. Guess he had no such words in his dictionary. He was happy with simple things in life. Like father, like son. Dad, wherever you are.. Happy Father's Day.

3707

OMG! 3707 came out in the consolation this evening. If you have read my earlier blog on 30 May 2012, we bought this number and nearly strike the 1st prize, I gave up after that. 3717 appeared last Wednesday and I had a gut feeling that 3707 will follow suit. Being a kiasu fellow, I placed a bet of $3 on it today and the reward....... haha...... $750. No winning money is too small for me. Thank my lucky star and divine & ancestor blessing. I am more confident of more big money coming my way. Huat ah!!!!!!

Marathon

There are still quite a few places for us to go in China like Sichuan Province Jiuzhaigou, Hunan Zhangjiajie and Yunnan, just to name a few. Away from China, we are thinking of Turkey the gateway to Europe. Nearer to home, Genting Highland is the best bet for short holiday. Dream, dream, dream. Bet they are not dreams. It's matter of time. Let's go!!!

Okay, it's comfirmed. Smily has graduated. Understand the graduation ceremony is in August 2012. As for Fyn, she has yet to finish her final 2 modules after which she will have to decide to continue further. How I wish she could finish it earlier as well. Tired. Me and Margaret are really tired after all these years supporting them. Kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, junior college and university. OMG! It's such a marathon.

Durians durians!

I sell durians?

And they called it Smiling Buddha 606

The God must be crazy. I posted the above picture on Facebook and this friend of mine thought I was the vendor. Do I really look like one? Maybe. I look quite 'Beng' in this picture wearing shorts and slippers. Moreover, there isn't anyone else except the durians. Btw, I was introduced to the latest Smiling Buddha 606 breed. It was damn creamy, smooth and not so sweet. Verdict..... excellent.

We would like to thank my brother Francis and in-law Rose for the mochi gift from Japan. I am sure they enjoyed themselves there. Travelling rocks! Where is the next destination?
