Cheese!

Me into photography? I dislike adjusting shutter speed, lens, etc. What I have is my handphone Nokia N80 camera. All photographs are taken with it except when I go for holidays abroad. I would borrow Fyn's Canon point and shoot camera. Surprisingly, most of the pictures turn up well.

The composition of a photograph is important and the angle at which the picture is taken is critical. I would read books and learn from them. Like everyone, I would like to take beautiful photographs. With modern and advance technology, we should be able to even with just a point and shoot camera. In conclusion, a good camera is necessary and I am never a good photographer.

Lazy Sunday

A lazy Sunday. Staying at home doing nothing except to eat, sleep and watch television. Oh yes, I did something productive i.e. had my hair trimmed in the morning. I had to work late last night for my project is rushing towards completion. OMG! The next public holiday is in August. The most horrible time of the year is here.... June and July. Hot, hot weather. No public holiday. Not only that, as mentioned above... project rushing towards completion. Worst, cannot apply leave leh. Die lah.
A book fair, an electronics and car fair, a food fair, John Little Fair and a furniture fair. All these had Singpore Expo buzzing during this weekend. For my workplace is nearby, I would pop in during my lunch hour. Guess all these fairs had 'eaten' a portion of my salary every now and then.

Cocktail of pills

Finally, we managed to have a dinner together after all these years. My ex-buddies Ah Soon and Teo free themselves at last. So many things to chat and catch up. Poor Ah Soon went to Dubai to work and suffered a heatstroke on the 2nd month. He came back with a serious stomach problem. After which he went on to work as a daily general worker in the aircraft maintainance industry. Who would have known that he went into a coma for 3 days after inhaling too much fumes from the cleaning acid. He is now taking a cocktail of 7 types of pills everyday.

For God is great, he is able to move about like a normal healthy person. Like mine, his children have grown up and it's time for him to relax a little. Good to hear that he is travelling to China for holidays annually. He deserves that little luxury.

On a lookout

Aha..... the Great Singapore Sale 2011 starts this weekend. I am on a lookout for a good bargain on this Canon G12 camera. Fyn wish to have one for her US trip and Margaret & I agree to subsidise half the cost. For the record, I bought a 32 inch JVC LCD television at $279 recently. Gosh! It's really a good buy. Hmm....I hope to be lucky again.

All clear

God has been kind to Joseph for he was given an all clear for his recent angiogram. That is to say he does not need to go for a heart by-pass surgery or angioplasty (balloning). It's a miracle that all the artery blockages were gone. Who the heck bothers to know what is happening when everything seems right? Thank you for all your prayers and concern. May the good Lord shower his blessing on you too. May it be so.

Mother's love

OMG! That's me at my skinniest. Under nourished, malnutrition? Not really. No matter how I ate, I simply couldn't put on weight. Maybe I would say my body metabolism was at its best. Haha....

If my memory don't fails me, I was then a 15 year old boy at the Changi jetty on the way to Pulau Tekong for a 3 days' camp. It was organised by my ex-classmates. Time flies.

Looking back and I realise how my late mother must have been having sleepless nights by my outings. Just like Margaret staying awake waiting for the children to come home late at night. Argh................. mother's love.

What lies ahead...

Add Image

The world moves on no matter what. There's no stopping, so don't look back. Any setback that comes along, just absorb the punch and keep going. Well said but not easily done. If only......... everything happens for a reason and overcoming it makes us a stronger individual. For those whose dreams are shattered one way or another, don't be desponded. Whatever lost is already a beautiful memory today. You will never know what lies ahead. Life goes on.

Who cares?

The happier moments where Joseph sent us off at Changi Airport Terminal 3 recently.

Good or bad, life goes on. It's never easy to accept when something has gone wrong with ourselves. Worst, when it's life threatening. The first question on everybody's lip is 'WHY ME?' Sad, dejected, disappointed, fearful............... There is no escape as we grow older each year.

Okay, Margaret has just returned from the hospital visit. In fact she is briefing me while I am blogging. Good news...... Joseph may not need to have the by-pass operation after all. Well, tomorrow is Vesak Day and I will be praying very hard for his recovery.

P.S. He is a Roman Catholic but in this scenerio, who cares?

What's the buzz.... 15 May 2011

No good news for my father-in-law Joseph. He suffered a heart attack on that fearful Friday 13. Medical report revealed 3 blocked arteries and he needs a by-pass operation. Let us pray that he will be okay.

Manchester United were crowned as the English Premier League Champions while Manchester City lifted the English FA Cup last night. As for my favourite Arsenal, they stay within the top three, thus ending the season 2010/2011 empty handed again. Better luck next season.

A dinner awaits

Supposed to meet up with my former buddies Ah Soon, Teo and friends this evening. Somehow we postpone the dinner to another day as they need to work overtime. Got to know them in the early 90s and have been the best of friends since then. Sad to say, the last time I've seen them was at my late mother's wake..... gosh! that was more than 2 years ago. Hopefully I am able to buy them a dinner next week.

A little bit lucky

Now that the Singapore General Election is over, let's move on. I am neither pro or against any party and took my voting rights seriously. Well, no more further political blogging from here till the next election in 2016. Congrats to all the winners!

A little lucky when I won $60 from an ibet 4D ticket. We did not have a house number after giving a new coat of paint in May last year. Not till recently that I managed to get a contractor to put up this golden number. My gut feeling tells me that it will come up in the top 3 prizes soon. Come on, wish me luck. Huat ah!!!

I wouldn't believe it when someone unknown sms me to offer me a job. He introduced himself and company, telling me he has a few projects in hand. I have a few more months to complete my project after which I do not know. I am a gypsy and guess I couldn't stay in a place for long. Depending on the management, you may never know. But one thing is for sure, I will be in Harbin, Dongbei China come September.

Pursuant to..............

The PAP has returned to form the government. As expected, Hougang and Aljunied were captured by the Workers' Party. Sad to say, Potong Pasir goes back to the ruling party. We wish Mr Chiam See Tong and his wife well. In between the GE 2011, an unlikely star was born. No, not Nicole Seah or Tin Pei Ling but Yam Ah Mee the Returning Officer. Within 2 hours, he garnered 18 000 'like' in the Facebook. Hope we do not need to wait for another 5 years to see him announcing .............................. pursuant to Section 49 sub Section 7e Paragraph A under the Parliamentary Elections Act, I hereby declare................... OMG!

Polling Day 2011

OMG! It's Judgement Day and the people of Singapore go the polls. The last time me and Margaret voted was more than 20 years ago. All the while, it's always a walkover for the PAP. For this election, not only do we need to vote but my children too. In fact, we marched to the polling station as a family unit. Of course, our individual choice is confidential and secret. Our children are young adults and they can decide for themselves. As for us, we had made the decision and it's final. The vote were cast and there's no way to reverse. Thank you PAP and SPP. Let the people of Bishan Toa Payoh GRC decide. May the better team win. Majullah Singapura!

For or against?

Who can it be now?

Monday, May 2, 2011

The heat is on

The heat is on. And it's hotter at Aljunied GRC. The Workers' Party 'A' team versus PAP George Yeo team. Initial signs point to the opposition. To me, both teams have a good chance. Good Luck.
Smiling Singaporeans everywhere. Why? The Share and Growth package lah. Guess everyone receives their money given by the government. Heard one elderly at the coffee shop this morning that he was buying more basic necessities with the aid. Great. This money comes in handy for the poor , needy and elderly.

Finally, my favourite team Arsenal beat Man U 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium last night. That definitely is a consolation after a fortnight nightmare. Well done. Keep it up.

Political tremor

Will there be a political tsunami come May 7 2011? We can feel the tremor.
