What ?

The last day of June 2013 and come tomorrow it's July Morning. Yeah, there's a song by Uriah Heep with this title. Definitely, it's one of my favourites. 'In my heart... in my mind... and in my soul... I'll be looking for you...'

Sometimes in working life when the going is a bit relax, you get a little uneasy. There are lots of work but it does not depends on me. Some things need time too. Surely I am not one who love to have nothing much to do. Neither do I love to be busy for nothing. Guess not many comprehend what I am writing. Don't bother. Life goes on.

Fyn in Taipei

The haze went north and as far as Songkla Thailand. In Singapore, we are in the healthy range with heavy shower in the afternoon. But..... dengue claimed its 4th victim today. Let's play our part by clearing stagnant water at home to stop the aedes mosquitoes from breeding.

Our daughter Fyn is in Taipei visiting her friends, at the same time running away from the haze. Well, she will start working on the 1st of July. Finally got a job after months of trying. Good luck!

4 out of 6

Haha! I won $30 on the Toto draw this evening. Got 4 out of 6 numbers correct is never easy. Moreover it's from a 50 cents quick pick. No money is too little for me and the thrill of winning it is satisfying. The last time I was lucky to win a lottery was this year Chinese New Year period. Probably the next draw should be $3 000 000. Big money. Who knows? Huat ah!!!

A moderate weekend

We should be thankful that the haze reading is in the moderate level since yesterday afternoon. Understand that the National Day Parade practice has been cancelled. The good thing this weekend is also the free preview of Starhub TV programmes which end tomorrow 9am. I watched Iron Chef Japan, Iron Chef America, travel and other documentary programmes.

The sad news is our neighbouring Johore Muar suffer a 700psi haze and an emergency has been  declared. Pointing fingers at this time does not help. Let us keep praying that this bad time passes us by.

PSI 401

Haze record high at PSI 401 today. Understand my surgical mask cannot help much but it's better than nothing. One of my friends commented I looked like a killer. I advise him to get his eyes check. Or the haze got his imagination runs wild.

Of course it's scary to see the PSI number increased as the hours gone by. A sigh of relief as the reading went down to 136 in the late afternoon. Let us pray that with time everything would be back to normal. May it be so.

PSI 290

Bad news after bad news. Dengue epidemic, today's MRT NE line breakdown and now the haze reading has reached a record high PSI 290. Yes, you didn't read wrongly. That is dangerously high. If it remains the same tomorrow morning, I am not going to work. The nature of my work is outdoor and I do not wish to risk my health for this.

A little joy to share. The picture above is not Japan but Isetan Scotts. Hmm.... yes, they are back. Hokkaido Summer Fair is here with generous food sampling and all things Japanese. Enjoy.....

Thank Indonesia?

Should we thank Indonesia or should we not? They brought the haze and thoroughly fumigated the island for the dengue outbreak in Singapore. Let's see how the Aedes mosquitoes survive and whether the number of dengue fever has gone down. Anyway, the haze condition has improved.

Dengue and haze

So, the air quality is defined as moderate level?

OMG! The haze is back. No thanks to the Indonesians who created these nuisance. There are many getting ready to apply for medical leave. In the late afternoon, the air quality had reached unhealthy level. Outdoor activities are discouraged and it is advisable to stay indoor. Meantime, dengue epidemic is on the rise. Take good care everybody.

Meeting Room?

My former secondary school classmates are organising a Taiwan trip in November 2013. No spouse allowed. So far, 3 guys have confirmed going. But not for me. I was there during my active National Service days. Even during my reservist, I returned to there every 2 to 3 years. Guess I had enough of all things Taiwanese and prefer to explore places which I have never been. Best wishes to you guys and enjoy...

My colleague sent me a photo of the meeting room at my former project using canvas as partition. My 1st impression was something went very wrong there. It looked like a wake to me. I was like... please God, oh no..... When he finally revealed, I had a sigh of relief. In fact they had a meeting this morning and those attending were wondering what had happened too. Gosh! That was close.....

Give a little bit...

As a non Catholic, it does not deter me from attending the Assisi Hospice Charity Fun Day at the St Joseph's Institution International this Sunday. I am supporting their mission of care for the sick, the dying and the poor. There are free shuttle service from Novena and Caldecott MRT Station. Please support and donate generously. See you there!!!

P.S. It starts at 10 am and ends at 4.30 pm.

Still grumbling

It is sad to belong to someone else when the right one comes along. At my age, I am not talking about love but my job. Recently I had an offer and just this morning, another one. I am allowed to break my appointment and lose my benefits. Time changes and the scenario has changed too. The last that I talk and grumble so much was many years ago.

The prediction for my zodiac in this Dragon year for my job isn't good. I was advised to go for a holiday and I had mine. Don't tell me that I have to go for another one? Whenever I am down with my job, my lottery luck will come. Will try harder on Toto and big sweep. Strike big and relax for a few months. I will continue to work even if big money comes along. But no messy project please.

Siong!

It has become my hate place a week after my transfer to this incomplete 'completed project'. Never in my life have I seen a more messy project with unimaginable damaged and defective works. There are so many outstanding items and sub-contractors changes the details from the approved drawings, thus promoting themselves as Architects. Honestly, I dragged myself to work these few days. I would be the happiest man on Earth should the management call off my appointment tomorrow. Mr Tom Jones, will you please sing that song once more? Please release me, let me go.....

A little sacrifice

OMG! That's the speed we are supposed to work everyday. At my age, I expect myself to go a little slow instead. But somehow, I do not know how to explain, everything is not only urgent but damn bloody urgent. I am giving my best though I need not work so hard. So long as the management achieve their objective, I am happy to play my part with a little sacrifice of my time. No reward or appreciation expected. Just the same 'happy go lucky' guy.

Transfer

Deja vu ! It's unfortunate that I have been transferred to another completed messy project. Of course there are many things that I cannot blog. At least I can release a little bit of steam here. For how long? I do not know. My guardian angel says relax and do whatever expected. I love the song by Bob Dylan titled 'I shall be released'.
