Lucky chant

I am testing my new Nokia N8 camera. The above photograph was taken with it. I trust more beautiful pictures will be coming in due course.
There are more colleagues falling ill and feeling unwell. Just pray that all these are just a nuisance with nothing major developing. Remember I wrote about my office bad fengshui and some of them start to believe in it. A good master would have ways to overcome no matter how bad the situation is. My observation tells me that the chi is not flowing. So, it's not good to stay inside for too long. I wasn't spared as I had gastric reflux last week too. The other way is to keep chanting in Teochew 'bad luck go away, good luck come..... keep repeating'. Must be joking? You bet.

Magical wand

There's a reason why people don't stay where they are especially when the bosses are around. The cunning ones would prevent the others from getting near them. Feeling an exaggerated importance, they crown themselves carrying fake magical wands. Are the bosses really idiots not to know the actors?
What is important to me is I am enjoying my work. Being a silent worker, I do not wish to be disturbed. Allow me to finish the retail phase successfully and see what happen next. I believe not to count the chickens before they are hatched. Man can plan but it's heaven's will.

Worth it?

Roses are red, violets are blue,
If you don't read my blog, I don't like you.

Just kidding. Okay, I am surprised that quite a number of my friends subscribe to the mobile data plan and not utilising it. Most of them are like me who fear exceeding the 12 GB allow for in a month. Many youngsters assure me that there is nothing to worry about. After 3 days, I used up 14MB only. Safe. Gonna explore Web TV.

Shopping fever continues. Transition lens with a Hugo Boss frame. Surely it cost me a small fortune. Usually, I am quite discipline but this time I lose control. Quality life does not come cheap. Like what Margaret said, 'You should pamper yourself with a little luxury at times.' The spectacle will be ready in a week time and I hope it turns out well and looks good on me. Hopefully by then I am able to say it's worth it.

My new Nokia N8

I had renewed my mobile contract with M1 for another 2 years and proudly announce that I am the owner of this Nokia N8 handphone. Many would say that this is an 'Ah Pek' ( old uncle in hokkien and teochew) phone. I beg your pardon for I am worst than Ah Pek. 'You don't need to press so hard' was the compliment I received when I first touch the phone. So I have to learn to be gentle with this touch screen device.
Gosh! I was totally lost. Many thanks to Margaret and my much younger colleagues, I am able to manage this phone now like accessing to my mailbox, facebook, web pages, etc. Damn it! Do not laugh at me. Like what my late father said, 'Son, you are never too old to learn. Stay relevent.' Thank you dad. I shall heed your advice.

No harm dreaming

I am down with gastric reflux and my colleague, high fever. It's always a little busy at work after a weekend. Monday blues............ yeah no one loves this day. Not for the working class and those under the roof of education.
An auspicious start after the LNY. No doubt the winning is $20, I consider myself a lucky man hitting the 3 plus 1 in the Toto $11 million draw. Shiok! It's true. The feeling is great. In fact, I made $5 out of it for I bought $15 in total. Crazy me, right? Room for improvement. Big money, I want big money!!!

Happy Birthday Jeffrey

A rocking 21st birthday for Jeffrey at the Singapore Civil Service Club last evening. The party was entertained with a live band in attendance. There were fun, jokes and laughter and more importantly, the birthday boy enjoyed his special day. Once again, Happy Birthday!!!!!

Yuan Xiao 2011

Here we go again....... 1....2....3....huat ahhhh!!!!! A final lo hei at my mother-in-law place with the Toa Payoh gang. Yuan Xiao or Chap Goh Meh brings an end to CNY celebration. Just a brink and it's over. Life is back to normal and there's no need to carry stand-by ang pow anymore. Believe me, I have not put on a black top since the 1st day of the LNY. What am I going to do next? Open the few ang pows that I received and not forgetting the hamper. Finally, to remove the decorations in the living room. I am sure Margaret would remind me to bring the remaining new year goodies to my workplace. Business as usual.
P.S. Good luck to all (myself included) on the $11 million Toto draw tomorrow. Huat ah!!!!!

When old pals meet...

A dinner with so much noise and laughter. All of us went through the hard way to make a living and struggled to bring our children up. Most of them are reaping their rewards now and it's time for them to relax a little.
As usual, a few of them explore the idea of having social activities like karaoke, badminton session, etc more often. I bet it will end up with another CNY dinner next year. Hopefully I am proven wrong this time round. Whatever, it is a blessing to have these wonderful people with me especially in times of need, down and out. Thank You.

The happiest people don't have the best of everything,
they just make the best of everything.

So busy meh?

Valentine is over and I can be myself. Oops! Just a joke. Time flies and two more days, the LNY would be over too. Meantime, the celebration continues and I am looking forward to my ex-secondary classmates gathering tomorrow evening. On a sadder note, Serene is returning to Melbourne on 19th February 2011. My programmes are packed and I hope I can have a meal with her on Friday evening.
With regrets, I am unable to find time to visit Joe's mother. Late Joe was my close childhood friend. Should be able to see her smiling again after the CNY.

Camera and handphone

Love is in the air. Valentine's Day is just a few days away. As for me and Margaret, we are looking forward to our vacation in April. I didn't go anywhere last year as I was busy in my work. Maybe I should have 2 trips instead to reward myself. Hehe...

I am still uncertain to get this SLR camera (entry level) which cost about a thousand dollars. Money is one thing and it would go to waste should my interest died out after getting it. My colleague recommended a non-changeable lens camera Nikon P500 costing about $700. To confuse matter, I am going to upgrade my handphone next week. Nokia N8 with a 12 megapixel camera. 'Why not an iphone 4 with so many applications?' my friend asked. 'Why not wait till the next IT Fair?' another advised. Wah lah...... such a simple complication. Headcahe.

A silly question

Happy Ti Kung (Jade Emperor) Day.

Do you have an office spouse? That was a question posted on the radio this morning. I was like 'Huh? That's an interesting topic'. Guess every man would wish for one. Should it happen, there would be choas. Then, what's the difference between human and animals? A silly question indeed from Class 95 FM.

Smily should be back from Vietnam any time soon. He is there for a 4-days vacation cum shopping trip. I am sure he enjoyed his holidays there.

Ex-hhg CNY dinner 2011

This dinner was held on the seventh day of the LNY which is everyone's birthday. Venue: Soup Restaurant @ City Square. Attended by the core members of the group and it's enough to bring the house down. We had a la carte dinner and the lo hei was pushed to the last for the benefit of late-comers. Good to know that all of us are doing well and eating well too. Cheers to good wealth and good health!
After dinner, it's coffee time at Toast Box at the 1st storey. This year topic..... photography and cameras. I may need to get one SLR camera to join in their on-location shooting session organized by Tuah Kiat. This is the latest craze and soon will be my next hobby.

LNY Gatherings

No one would want to miss a lo hei gathering. Thanks to Lee Hoon for suggesting the venue and Ex-HHG Huat Ah! dinner is on. Couldn't wait till Wednesday evening to reunite with them again. History repeats itself and and the gang returns to Serangoon nah. Oh no..... masala tea again?
Good things come in pair. My ex-sec 4 classmates CNY gathering would be on 16 Feb 2010. Another bunch of jokers where most of their children are grown up adults. They are some who are grandparents already. Aiyoh! So old already ah? Not really. To young to be admitted to the Senior Citizen Club but not the youth wing. Haha....

Football day of dramas

On the 4th day of..... oops! it's not X'mas. Twelve days are not enough. In CNY, we celebrate fifteen days. Thanks to my brothers and sister, not forgetting all present for making this year reunion dinner and gathering a success. For those who are unwell (myself included), let's hope that we'll recover soon.
Love is in the air and they will be no gathering on the 14 February 2011 except our loved ones. Back to the EPL, Arsenal were leading 4 goals at half time at St James Park. Sad to say, it ended with a 4-4 draw. Need to control myself, no swearing during this auspicious period. Haha... I found a reason to be happy at the expense of Margaret. Manchester United unbeaten record for this season was broken. To add insult to injury, they lost to bottom club Wolverhampton by 2-1. A shocked and unexpected defeat. Ehhhhhh...... no swearing please.

Buzzing Lunar New Year

Oh dear! The lion is tired, so am I. I went back to office this morning and exchange new year greetings with my colleagues. All quiet at the Eastern Front as most of the others are off or on leave. Peaceful and serene.

Happy Lunar New Year

A Happy, Hopping and Prosperous New Year to all. Gong Xi Fa Cai!
A good head start for both Margaret and Smily. They both won $35 and $60 respectively at my mother-in-law place. As for me, I am suffering from upset stomach after the reunion dinner last night. Just too weak to do anything.
Thanks to Patrick for the Teochew yam paste and I am going for it. Well, the Toa Payoh gang meet again for dinner later. Will there be another gambling session? Your guess is as good as mine. Once again, gong xi gong xi.

Tiger is packing

Sob sob.... the Tiger is packing and ready to leave. So is the Rabbit waiting eagerly to hop in. We had our reunion dinner at Jumbo Seafood Restaurant Dempsey Road. This year is special for it signals the arrival of another generation. Anya attended her first reunion dinner.
It's good to see my brothers, sister, in-laws and the Yu generation ( Peizhi included) are fine. We are proud that our children went round to call the uncles and aunties upon arrival. However, I had my third lo hei this evening. Mama mia!
