Wazzup! 30 June 2010

It is not good idling and living life aimlessly especially during the studies break. Gosh, we are talking about 2 months. Well, Margaret managed to convince Fyn to work in her office. She started 3 days ago and how long more can she last is everybody guess. I am confident she can make it. You go gal.

I was talking to Tuah Kiat the other day and he was saying, ' it's high time we have another gathering'. Maybe I should post an email initiating it. I am sure the rest of HH Gang are as enthusiastic. Rock on!!!

We are into the quarter finals of the World Cup 2010 i.e. last 8 surviving teams battling for the trophy. To date, I have lost $10 supporting Slovakia. Why? The payout was good paying 10 times should I got it right. Haha... Yes, buying the underdogs to win and by the score of 2-1. Unfortunately, it's Holland who won 2-1. Good try. Well, my Argentina is still in the tournament. Don't let me down!!!!! ( Fyi, it's just another $5 bet. LOL )

We found him!

Found : Weng Cheong. What is so great about him? Well, he is our secondary school ex-classmate and we have not meet since then. Somehow, Eric Chan managed to trace him and called for a urgent gathering at Lau Pa Sa last night. He is returning to France to report for work next week and will be back here again next year. I couldn't believe my ears when he said he has been there for the past 10 years. Well, it's nice catching up with him again. We would like to thank him for his precious time at the gathering and wish him well too. Bon voyage!

Belated Happy Father's Day

A very busy Sunday. Makan session with our regular kakis at Zhou's Kitchen Anchorage. It's fine dining where quality take precedence over quantity. They recommended 7 delicious dishes for the lunch. Good choice. No bloated tummies and everyone were smiling as we left.
We rushed to the Malay Village to attend Margaret's colleague son wedding party. We were received by him and his wife. It's unfortunate we didn't have a chance to congrats the bride and groom. Anyway, we wish them 'happiness always'.
It's Father's Day and we celebrated with my in-laws. Dinner at Mask Restaurant Serangoon as proposed by Andrew. You don't believe it. They are giving a 50% discount for diners till the end of the month. Of course, the children were there too. Surprisingly, I received a present from Jared too. Thank you so much.
Oh yes...... we would like to wish you (with children) a Belated Happy Father's Day. Cheers!

World Cup 2010

I placed a bet on Argentina to win the World Cup 2010 before the kick-off last week. Is Argentina my favourite team? Not really. Statistics show that no European team has ever won the cup outside its continent. Needless to say, we can safely rule out Asian teams. Forget about Australia and New Zealand for they are there to form the numbers. How about the African teams? In my opinion, they are not ready for the big stage yet. Overall, it left us with the American teams. Who else? Of course it's Brazil and Argentina. The next World Cup will be held in Brazil and they will win it on home soil. I am left with Argentina this time round. Shit! For a $5 bet, I spent weeks analysing the history, data, etc. Is it really for football or gambling? I believe it's both. Btw, Margaret placed her bet on Brazil. Good luck!

Party...

Once in my lifetime. Not on my 18th or 21st but 19th birthday. Why? There is no answer to it. In case you are still wondering what the hell I am talking about, it's about birthday party. Plenty of planning and effort required to make that occasion a success. The place, food, guest and music. I need to thank many good friends for their assistance especially Eddie Lim for his place, the late Joe Lim for logistics and my sister Jessie for a little contribution... hehe. A small crowd of 70 and more enjoyed dancing, the fun and the laughter. What I did not like was the cleaning when it's over. Everyone happily left after midnight and we stayed behind till 4 am to clean up and clear the mess. It's memorable but once is more than enough. Well, this year is my daughter's 21st birthday. Guess a big celebration awaits.

Disco?

Can someone tell me what is happening? I rediscover disco music and enjoy every beat of it. Retro man. Staying alive, Night fever, Play that funky music, Let's all chant, Freak out, etc. You name it, I have it. Gosh, I am feeling young and energetic once more. Bring me my blazer and bell-bottom pants. Let's move to the dance floor. You should be dancing..... yeah...... Sweet memories.

Painting defects

'Human by nature is kind,' said the wise man. Many would disagree for human itself is evil, selfish and greedy. Living saint comes once in a hundred years. So long as we are happy and comfortable not living life to the extreme, who cares? There is no right and no wrong depending on which angle you are looking at. Oops! This is not a religious or philosophy blog. Let's move on.
It's been a week and the painter is back to finish off the wardrobes and rectify the defect works. Headache. He was the worst among those who came last week. We are keeping our fingers crossed. Judgement Day, hallelujah.

Hey you!

Still crazy after all these years with a more matured and focus mind. I sighed with relief on meeting my childhood friends here. The kid in me got me excited whenever they added me to their circle of friends. More importantly, it's nice to hear that they are fine and happy. From loved ones and good friends to perfect strangers. Scary. But that's life and we have to accept it.
Besides my parents, many had high hopes that I would be a 'successful man'. Sad that I had disappointed them for I am not an ambitious guy. Deep inside me, I just want an ordinary life. Looking back, I was too relax and that's not healthy either. I love the woman I marry and am thankful for her to stand by me all these while.
As we move forward each year, I sincerely hope to keep in touch with all of you my treasured friends. Time and tide wait for no man. It will be too late to catch up in another 30 years time.

Almost done

It's almost there. We feel as though we are moving in to a new unit. Overall, a job well done except for the finishing on the wardrobe. A total disappointment. It looks dirty. We are exploring alternative. Well, you win some, you lose some.
The air- con system is working perfectly. No one is complaining and all of us enjoy our sleep at night. As for the light fittings, we are getting used to the new light fittings. With the new coat of paint, our home looks brand new and brighter. There are a lot of other things to improve but no... not gonna break the budget we allowed for.

Happy Thursday

No doubt it's a hectic working day, I am happy that my children are doing reasonably well in their studies. Well, there are 2 more years to go and I hope they maintain at that. I wouldn't be home till sunrise. Guess my wife and children are clearing their rooms for the painting work starting tomorrow.

OMG! I found my long lost lyrics. Couldn't believe my luck but I believe in fate. Anyway, the song is incomplete with the missing melody. How I wish and I wish not for the inspiration to return. Confusing thoughts and it's better not to understand. It can never be the same should I manage to piece them together again. No matter what, I am happy. Let's wait and see.
