What's the buzz ? 31 Jan 2010

Happy Thaipusam to our Hindu friends.

We are 2 weeks away to the Year of the Tiger. Margaret and my children are busy shopping for new clothing. Coincidentally, me and my colleagues are rushing our project at my workplace. In fact, I am returning to the office after this.
Hmm ..... yes..... I would like to thank our loved ones for helping us to buy fresh fishes, lobster and giant prawns from JB. I can't wait to have them on my table. No... no.... it's reserve for this coming Lunar New Year. Yum-yum!

Birthday greetings to Margaret

Happy birthday to my dearest wife Margaret.

The birthday celebration began with a Sushi Teh dinner at Paragon Shopping Centre last Sunday. Prior to that, she brought my mother-in-law to Robinson to shop for her lunar new year clothing. If I am not wrong, Anna got 3 new blouse for this coming CNY. Of course she is happy.
Our birthday is always celebrated with a simple family dinner. My wish for the birthday girl is 'good health always'. Once again, Happy Birthday Dear. Cheers!

Class of '79 Reunion ( 2010 )

OMG! I thought I was dreaming when I woke up this morning. Oh yes, the reunion was for real. I arrived at 8pm and was too busy to catch up with all of them. Everyone was happy to be present and I could feel the special warm feeling that were missing after our graduation. For most of us especially the ladies, it's our 1st meeting after 30 years. A few of them couldn't recognise me ( guess I have put on too much weight ) and upon hearing my name they screamed ............ 'yes.... you are Kevin.........'. As usual, I was teasing and joking with them. It's an evening full of fun and laughter where we were teenagers again. The good news is that we have decided to make this reunion an annual affair starting next year tentatively 14 Jan 2011. Till then, thanks for the memories.

Towards Class '79 Reunion

5 more days to the Class '79 reunion. Like a small kid, I am as excited as anyone. I gonna meet quite a number of whom I have not seen for the past 30 years. This big bash is of such a significance that we have our former classmates S. Ganesan (USA), Francis Lim (HK) and Yeo King Seng (PRC) flying in for this occasion. I am sure we will boogie till the next morning no doubt the party ends at 10.30pm. Will let you know how much fun we missed all these years............. till then.......................

Happy Pongal 2010

Happy Pongal 2010 to our Indian friends.

Both our children returned to campus for their 2nd semester. Not only we have to pay for their tuition fees but the few hundred dollars of textbooks too. Whatever, so long as they behave and work hard on their studies, we have no complaint.

Huh, what is this?

I was told that we would have to abandon the traditional 'ang pow' or red packet exchange this coming CNY. Reason is that my late mother passed away last April and it applies to my family gathering only. For the sake of family unity, I reluctantly accepted it with discomfort and lots of frustration. By right, it should be left to individual discretion. To me, the mourning period has long been over and I am very, very sure my late mum would not be happy with this. She loves all her grandchildren and would want them to be happy especially on this occasion. But how to be happy without 'ang pows' for them. Even if this is customary, we should not be too rigid. I will choose not to celebrate should I need to mourn on this occasion especially at reunion dinner and CNY visiting and gathering. Forgive me if I am too harsh.
For the loved ones and friends outside my immediate family, please note that our celebration carries on with no holding back. Looking forward to your 'Gong Xi Gong Xi'.

A quiet affair

New Year, the same old me with the same old routine. Yawn................. mm....... tell you an interesting happening at the Singapore Expo. I passed by an exhibition hall and what aroused my curiosity were the people attending the exhibits. First, they queued at the ticket counter and paid about S $22 to get in. The next point was ...... I couldn't believe my eyes......... about 90% of them have tattoo in them. Yes, both men and ladies. I tried looking for posters promoting this event but there were none. Finally, I summoned enough courage and engaged the bouncers at the entrance. They told me it's an exhibition on tattoo arts. That confirmed my suspicion. I am sure that the authority does not allow them to advertise. As it's not my cup of tea, I proceeded to the next hall for the John Little Warehouse Sale.

Back to school 2010

It's the 2nd day of a new school term in 2010. I can't imagine my children dragging themselves to class with a full back-pack and return with a bag load of homework. Well, that's life all kids have to go through.
They are selling Chinese New Year goodies everywhere especially in supermarkets and provision shops. The festival is slightly more than a month away and I can't wait for it to arrive. We will have reunion dinner with our brothers and sister in a local seafood restaurant and a family gathering on the 2nd day at my sister's house. For the record, it's the first time we are celebrating in our parents' absence. life goes on........................

Love 2010

The 2nd day of twenty ten ( 20 10 ) and it's business as usual. I returned to office this morning and finished my work at 1730 hours. No doubt it's a Saturday, guess the engine for my project has just begun. It's not a problem and I am expecting a lot of late night work after the Lunar New Year.

Welcome to Singapore, welcome home! Serene Yip and family is in town. Hope they have a wonderful time here.

Welcome 2010

Happy New Year! Goodbye 2009 and welcome 2010. It's the beginning of a new year and a new decade. We would like to wish everyone 'good health and luck' and may your life be filled with peace and joy.
The main events of January 2010 ......... Class of 1979 Reunion and Margaret's birthday. Meantime, the festive celebrations roll on. For the young ones, it's back to school on 4 January 2010. Remember to 'try' your uniform just in case the body grows a little. Haha....
