Happy shopping

This coming Thursday marks the end of my late mother's mourning period. It's our custom not to cut our hair during this time and it's getting out of shape and untidy. I have bought a red AX polo shirt to wear after the ceremony. It symbolizes a successful mourning period and that calls for a celebration. At the same time, it will bring lots of luck and suceess as life goes on.

OMG! I spent a substantial amount at the Club 21 bazaar. I couldn't believe I got 5 pairs of jeans / slack, 3 polo shirts, 2 tees, 1 shorts, 1 shirt and a pair of Dolce & Gabbana sneakers. Mind you, the bazaar ends today and I maybe there again searching for the best bargains. Happy shopping !!!

University?

It's sweater than sweat for Fyn. She has accepted the offer from the National University of Singapore to continue her education there. A sigh of relief after months of anxiety in waiting for this favorable reply. Well, she can continue to relax and enjoy till the university new term begins. Congrats!

The cup of milk is only half full. We are crossing our fingers that Smily's application will be accepted too. The competition for limited places in these universities has been very strong. He is relax and enjoying his youth at this moment. As for me and Margaret, there's nothing much we can do except to carry on praying and hope. Good Luck!

My guitar bleeds

From the number of blogs posted this month, you can tell that I am quite relax and free. This breathing space enables me to analyse the good, the bad and the ugly for the past year especially my loved ones. I hardly had enough sleep after spending 14 hours at my workplace per day.
Enough is enough. I do not wish to be taken advantage of anymore. Worst, betrayed. It's like rubbing salt to open wound. Deja vu !
My guitar bleeds. My music weeps. Though dejected, I can never write another song 'Broken Man 2'. My inspiration died the day angel went to sleep. Like the song goes, 'sometimes... all I need is the air that I breathe than to love you....'
As a typical Teochew, I believe in the opposite in that being humble even if I achieve a little success in life. But I will stand tall when bullied or overshadowed. Do not overrate yourself for the story has not end yet. The one who laugh last, laugh best.

Bad Mood

I do not believe in using a blog to attack any individual or group. But it should be allowed to relieve my frustrations without hurting or offending anyone. Like I said before, music was my first love. Whenever I am moody, I would pick my guitar up and those music would heal my wound. The first cut is the deepest. It can't go any further. Try as you may.

The shadow created a false front which makes everyone think the body is useless, thereby look down upon. It cannot be any better than the farmer or the pig in the Animal's Farm. Why keep precious treasures when they bring more harm than good ? Painfully throw them away and life goes on.

Do not ask me what the hell I am writing about. It's my way of releasing stress and frustrations in writing. There may or may not have hidden meaning(s). Only God knows.

Recession Hero

I am on medical leave today. The flu virus refused to go off and I went to consult our recession hero, Dr Koh Sek Khoon. He was featured in the Straits Times yesterday for his charitable act by charging the patients less than the market rate and giving further discount to the needy. Knowing him for nearly 18 years, he is referred to as our family doctor. I agree with the paper that he deserve the credits and praise. His clinic Toa Payoh North Clinic & Surgery is at Block 203 Toa Payoh North #01-1111 Singapore 310203. Tel : 62568692
Note : The waiting time after registrating is about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Tapping massage

Can someone tell me when was the last time I was sick? I am down with flu and if I cannot get better by tomorrow, then I have no choice but to consult my doctor. After 2 days of resting at home, I dragged myself to work this morning. Arghhhhhhh.......

I bought a Otto Power Tap as a Mother's Day present for Margaret. It's a strap you wear over your neck for a good, solid tapping massage. In fact it can be used for massaging other parts of the body as well. It's value for money though a little costly. For it's so relaxing that I need to take a nap whenever I utilise it. Strongly recommended. So what are you waiting for?

Mother's Day 2009

Wishing all mothers 'Happy Mother's Day'.

Life goes on though Mother's Day can never be the same again. More importantly, we should not neglect those living with us. Joined my in-laws' celebration last evening with a dinner at Lorong 7 Toa Payoh. It's a good recommendation by Andrew for a 9-course dinner for 2 tables of 15 cost about S$200. We had cereal prawn, cereal chicken, yam ring, marmite pork, 3 plates of vegetable, mince meat tofu and banana stuffed with scallop.

The butt of the jokes was at the grandchildren's table. The talk of Clarissa's secret admirer, a boy whose name starts with J, reached her mother's ears. OMG ! She was interrogated after the dinner. I believe these are harmless little things that we have to go through in our teenage life. And they called it 'Puppy Love'. Sing that song again Donny Osmand !

We would like to wish our Buddhist friends
' Happy Vesak Day '.
( le jour heureux de vesak )

Buddhists worldwide enjoy the arrival of this holy day on the full moon of the fourth Chinese Lunar month. It represents a simultaneous celebration of the birth, enlightenment and the passing into nirvana of the Lord Buddha.

May all that have life be delivered from suffering - Buddha.

Feeling empty

Arsenal end the season 08/09 empty-handed. Their achievements this season are the semi-finals in the Euro Champions League and the English FA Cup together with a ( most probably ) fourth placing in the English Premier League. I do not expect much with such a young team. A 4th successive season without a tropy.

Yesterday was the third seven of the mourning period for my late mother. Me, Margaret, my brothers and in-laws gathered at the Bright Hill Temple for a small ceremonial ritual. Surprisingly, it's also Francis Ng's birthday. Shy to say, I could not remember every of my family's members birthday.

Working part-time

Me and Margaret had a small chat with our son, Smily, the other night. Well, he is working part-time as a promoter selling branded watches in a bazaar. Guess he is doing reasonably well and more importantly, enjoys what he is doing. He excitedly showed us the laptop he bought recently. Of course, with the money we transferred to him. It comes in handy when he further his studies in the coming months.

Arsenal beat Portsmouth 3-0 with a reserve team last night. With 3 more matches to go, they have nothing to play for except to maintain their 4th position in the English Premier League. Don't forget to watch the return leg of the semi-final against Manchester United in the UE Champions League this coming Tuesday. Arsenal rock!

May 2009

May day, May day ! It's not a SOS but a public holiday in Singapore. I am glad that April 2009 is history and may this May brings joy and happiness to everyone especially my family members. What do we have this month? Labour Day that is on today, Vesak Day, Mother's Day, Dumpling Festival and Clarissa's birthday. Did I say Mother's Day? I am still wondering whether to celebrate with my mother-in-law and Margaret for my mother had passed away recently. I am pretty sure that she want me to move on. Let's see.

Evening edition

Patrick called to update us that our maternal 5th uncle passed away on Monday 27 Apr 2009. Our deepest condolences.
