Next month in Hua Hin

It's confirmed that me and Margaret will be in Hua Hin Thailand this coming Deepavali. I need to clear my 2008 annual leave and it's not appropriate to take it in November or December for our children are away in Laos and Melbourne. As my colleague is celebrating his Deepavali in India, I am thankful that my immediate superior aprroved my leave and cover my duty during my absence.

Forget about the 5 Days Vietnam tour. It cost about $350 more than my Thailand's trip. Moreover, the departure is in the evening and returns in the morning. In simple mathematics, the 3 days tour over there cost about $880 taking away the 2 days flights ( to and fro ). Guess we are not given a choice.

The night race rocks on......

Congratulation to Singapore for the successful world-stage Singtel Grand Prirx 2009 and not forgetting world champion Lewis Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes) for winning this prestigeous night race. Newspapers pointed out that former Singapore Idol Taufik had confused himself with the word 'bersatu' to 'bersaru' in the opening National Anthem. He has admitted it and let's forgive and move on.

83 000 fans were there with MM Lee Kuan Yew and PM Lee Hsien Loong inclusive. No, I must confess I wasn't there. The above picture was taken with a poster at the Ferrari counter along Orchard Road. It's for the fun of this festival. LOL.

4 years has passed

In rememberance of my late father Ng Peng Jin who departed 4 years ago today. Though he was in his mid-80s, he was chatting excitedly with Smily and Fyn on the Chinese pop group '5566'. Morale of this story, stay young and relevant, catch up with times. Thanks, Dad.

The software in my handphone is corrupted and in Nokia Service Centre for servicing. Problem is I deleted the contacts in my SIM card and discovered the contacts on the phone were gone too. I have never been so suay (unlucky) before. What to do except to send emails to all my friends asking them for their mobile number again. Actually it's been quite peaceful without it. But then hor........... it's like something is missing in life. It's more than a phone to me. A radio, a music player and a camera. At times, as a watch too.
I was told that my phone should be ready for collection by tomorrow afternoon. So, do not call me till then. Chiao!

2009 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

The event of the month : 2009 Singapore F1 Grand Prix. Though I am not a fan but simply cannot ignore the hoo-haa everywhere. For the rock concert Formula 1 rocks Singapore, we have Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Gwen Stefani, ZZ Top, A-Mei, Jacky Cheung and many others. What interest me most is the Night Race Toto Draw tomorrow which is associated with this festival. The grand prize is S$ 9.6 million. Someone told me that I hit the jackpot in her dream. OMG! Can someone bring in the cage with the balls and start the rolling please ....................

Reality bites

It sucks! The problem with grown-up kids nowadays is that they don't care about others except themselves. Every now and then they will give you surprises. What do I mean? Fyn has decided and volunteered herself to join the charity mission to Laos for 3 weeks in December. Not only that, she announced in a confrontation manner that she will be heading to US to work for 3 months during her vacation next year. In a way, she was merely informing us and not seeking our permission and opinion. Sad, very sad. After so many years of education, where are the manners and respect for the parents?
We have reluctantly give our blessing on her Laos trip but not the latter. As parents, we are concerned with her safety. How reliable is her agency? Probably she had lost her soul when she told Margaret that she won't be calling home when in Laos.
Smily isn't any better. He will be visiting his friend in Melbourne for 2 weeks in November. Only consolation is that he is not back-packing. He is above 21 and telling us is just a formality.
Well, I believe they will be asking for money which is not a major issue. No more surprises please for it's not easy to give a negative reply. It pains us to see our children disappointed. Which parent don't care and love their children? Sigh........................

Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2009

We would like to wish all Muslims Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Taking advantage of this long weekend, me and Margaret went to JB Malaysia to dine and shop. I couldn't believe when told of the exchange rate went up to RM $2.50 for S $1.00. A colleague of mine thought it was a joke and wanted to change a million dollars.

Since it's the 8th Lunar Month, we bought a box of assorted mooncakes. The Mooncake or Lantern Festival falls on 3 Oct 2009. Prior to that, we will be celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary on 23 Sep 2009. Since everyone is busy in their study or work, a family dinner celebration will be held this evening instead. Let the good times roll.........

Okay, I will limit the pictures should I go for my next trip. What, next trip????? There is a good chance that we will be visiting Ho Chi Minh Vietnam in the coming months. Will keep you posted. Holiday fever rocks!

The grand finale last night ended the Hungry Ghost Festival 2009. May everyone stays healthy and .......... hehe.............. be wealthy too. Cheers!
