'Bachelor'

I am a 'bachelor' once again for this weekend as Margaret is in Hong Kong. The joke backfires when friends invited me to celebrate my temporary status and new found freedom. Sadly, my work schedule does not allow me to breathe. What the heck! I need to work overnight and would be spending my Sunday sleeping at home. Argh...........

The Lord..........

Cool man. Need I say more? Simply love this picture though I am not a Christian. That's Jesus leading the herd. It reminds me of Psalm 23 that goes something like that.... 'the Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want....though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. '
Gosh! That was donkey years ago where we prayed every morning before class and attended Chapel every week. Those were the days............

Margaret's new notebook

I am blogging in my air-con bedroom with Margaret's new notebook. The feeling is great and shiok. You can call me a 'mountain tortise'. It's all right. No wonder my children can glue to their notebook all night long. But no, not for me. Once I finish this, it's goodnight. Oo la la!

I shoot people

What do you do when you are cornered? Of course you fight your way out. That's animal instinct. Do we really need to push others into desperation? Even if we do, allow them a way out and not to take their breathe away. I heed my Master advice. Live and let live.
It's inevitable that often we'll meet people who are always jealous of others' good blessings. Body language tells. Good friends or loved ones, there's always be. We shouldn't be bothered by them except to pray for the good times to stay. Whatever, as we mature, health is the utmost importance. Happiness and wealth follow..............

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop - Confucius

A little sadness

Oh dear! My fourth aunty ( mother's side ) passed away this morning. May her soul rest in peace. Om mani padme hum. Our deepest condolences to our cousins and family.

Lucy our housekeeper at Queenstown, is returning to Burma on Monday. Thank you so much for looking after and attending to my late mother especially on her last days on earth. Guess it's hard to find another who is so caring, warm and obedient. We wish her well.

Hoilday fever

Holiday Fever....... you bet! It's one of the rare occasions that my wife is leaving me behind. Come next week, she goes to Hong Kong for a short holiday. Fyn will join her company trip after which she has to return to campus for her new semester. For the record, Smily and gang are enjoying themselves in KL and should be back this Friday.

Who else? Yes, my immediate superior is taking leave on the 1st week of August to travel up to Malaysia too. Too bad, I can only wish everyone 'Bon Voyage!' How I wish.......... argh......... poor me...... work and work and work and work................

A day in JB

We returned to Tebrau City Johore Bahru after a year absence. No doubt Dickson, our former hair stylist has left but we still have Ann at the hair salon. She is the pioneer of the establishment there. Me, Margaret and Fyn spent a few hours to have our hair cut, colour and spa treatment.

It was a surprise that the taxi we were travelling in ran on meter instead of the usual bargaining. The driver was friendly and that made us feel welcome and comfortable. But on our return, it's a different story with the driver asking for a fixed fare. I gave in as it was just a M$2 difference.

I was at Bugis Junction the other day and noticed that Nandos Restaurant had replaced Sketches. As the queue was long, I called it a day. You know what? They have it in JB too and you can just walk in anytime. If I am not wrong, it's a restaurant specialising in grill chicken with African spices and chilly. We enjoyed our dinner and it's value for money.

What's up tomorrow?

I am working late into the night and have to return to my office at noon tomorrow. That's the standing order for a Super VVIP and the Board of Directors will be visiting our workplace. Our immediate superior will be entertaining them and we are there to make up the numbers. How I wish I could sleep for a few more hours. Well, at times we have to give and take.

It's gonna be livelier in the evening. I look forward to the much awaited HHG get-together at lluma Bugis. I initiated the gathering, Tuah Kiat suggested the restaurant at Marina and Lee Hoon indirectly proposed the Bugis outlet for the convenience of everyone. Besides Winston and Neo, we gonna have Christina, Adeline, Koh Sing and probably Pipi & Jimmy. I can't imagine that once upon a time we were working in the same company. It's a blessing to know most of them since 1996 and maintaining a good relationship since then. You guys rock!

Eating Out

I can't deny we are dining out more frequent than usual. Our children have grown up and their activities are packed. It's not often we can have a family meal together, not forgetting I need to work outside my office hours. As such, it's difficult for Margaret to cook at home even during the weekend. So, whenever everyone is at home we would initiate a family meal nearby. Be it at a coffee shop or a restaurant, so long as the food is good. Yes, Sheryl would join us at times. Our family lunch / dinner is not complete without Anna, my mother-in-law. She enjoys dining with Smily and Fyn especially the teasing, laughter and fun. Which grandmother doesn't?

I do regret for not bringing my late parents out enough. But then, life was a struggle with 2 young children in tow. If only.......... We are thankful that it is a little easier nowadays. Spending a bit more to be with our love ones is really worth it. In times to come, our children will settle down and start their families. Will they have time for us or will we be forgotten? Time will tell.

Good Food

I attended a seminar at the BCA Acadamy yesterday. Unexpectedly, I met Winston Cheah during the coffee break. He was astonished that I put on so much weight. Well, I had a medical check-up this afternoon and he was right. I am 9 kg above my acceptable weight. Probably dieting is not good enough. A better solution is to fast. Give me a week and I will let you know whether it works or not. Sigh......... it's not easy to live a life.

OMG! It's Wanton (Dumpling) Party at my mom-in-law place again. Instead of the normal 30 pieces, I took 20 for dinner. Sedap! Aiyoh, how not to put on weight with so much good food everywhere. Go for good health and good look, eat less lah. Can I?

Don't cry for me, Argentina.

We got it all wrong. Both Brazil and Argentina are on their way home. It's goodbye to World Cup 2010. Who would have predicted Germany to thrash Argentina 4-0? So, who can it be now? Uruguay, Holland, Germany or Spain? It's anybody guess. Good luck to the remaining teams.

Thank you Sheryl for the Chinese Tea leaves from China. I am sure you enjoyed your holidays. All the best for your coming new semester.
