Mooncake sampling

It's mooncake  sampling at Ngee Ann City Atrium. Me and Margaret went to the annual Mid-Autumn Festival Bazaar after our dinner for our dessert. Oops! Did I say it wrongly? LOL. We tested almost all the mooncake samples there. Of course they came in bits and pieces. In the end, our stomachs are bloated. Walking around and looking at the prices, they are extravagant. But I still believe in eating ice cream instead of ice cream mooncake, durian instead of durian mooncake. Somehow I long for my typical Teochew mooncake which comes in one big round piece. As it no longer make economic sense to produce them, those traditional Teochew bakery shops closed down in Singapore. Maybe I should try getting them in Johore Bahru.

Dental

OMG! Just came back from the dental clinic. Before this visit, I do not know when was the last time I had my teeth checked. Sad to say, I have a lousy set of teeth from young and there is this phobia of going to the clinic. Thank goodness, I had mended 3 teeth at one go this evening. Still, that's not the end of the story. I need to go back for washing and polishing next week. If not, the gum will be infected. Any other choice? I guess not.

Life goes on

Thank you for your condolences, prayers and presence at my father-in-law wake last week. Your support, care and concern meant a lot to us in this difficult time. There were quite a lot of unexpected beautiful people who turned up to pay their last respect. It's his blessing. Once again, thank you very much and we deeply appreciate what you had done for us.

I am supposed to arrange lunch and dinner appointments as conversed with my buddies and friends at the wake. Unfortunately, my lunch hour is a bit odd. Yes, it's 12 pm to 1 pm whereas most would have it at 1 pm to 2 pm. I will find an opportunity to have a late lunch but it's a bit difficult as we are at a critical stage to finish off the project. Definitely no weekend dinner appointment as well for Saturday and Sunday are strictly for my family. I know good friends are hard to come by and I am still trying to work it out. Till then...

In memory of my father-in-law

My beloved father-in-law was called home to the Lord on 21st August 2013. The funeral service ended this evening. A legendary grandfather, One amazing grandpa, the grandchildren wrote on their tribute. Our family doctor describe him as one who lived his life with quality and quantity. Oh yes, he was 84 years old.

He was a teacher after the World War 2 in the rural area of Johore. It was not until his retirement in the 80s that he pursued his passion in dancing. He opened a dancing studio in Johore with ballroom dancing students in toll. In between, he was often invited to be in the judging panel in international ballroom dancing tournaments. Till his last day, he walked without the aid of a walking stick and his passing on had shocked everyone locally and abroad.

I consider myself blessed to be his son-in-law. He did not despised me though I wasn't doing well in my earlier marriage life. He only had encouraging words and concern when I was down with illness. He had high hopes on my children and they didn't disappoint him when they graduated in the recent years.

Father, no matter what you are sadly missed by all of  us. Rest in peace.

Tuck in

I do not know what is happening? A few months back, most of my T-shirts and polo shirts were too tight at my tummy level. I decided to buy those which were baggy at waist line and it looked okay. But when I put on these clothing nowadays, it look awful, oversize and exceptional long. Having no choice, I have to wear those fitting tops with a small tummy protruding. Not to be wasteful, I tuck in those oversize ones. It's something which I stopped for many years. Whatever, I will try to bring my tummy down a little. A little ugly is better than totally ugly.

Season first match

The English Premier league 2013/2014 has begun and I have just finished watching the dramatic first  match Arsenal played. Sad that they had lost to Aston Villa and worst, a lot of players injured. It scared the hell out of me to see Sagna landed on his neck following a challenge on a high ball. Sincerely pray that he is alright.

I can't deny Arsenal play beautiful football but it won't get them anywhere. Definitely, they are going to struggle this season unless Arsene Wenger change his mentality. Yes, change to 'smart' football.  You don't care beautiful or ugly so long as you win. Just like Chelsea Mourinho.

Arsenal is a team with so many youngsters. After watching Aston Villa experience players outclassed the team, as a fan I have lost hope on them to be at the top four at the end of the season. I guess these are the reasons why Arsenal couldn't get those good class players to join them. Gonna misfire throughout the season.

OMB!

OMB! What's that? Like you, I was puzzled when a friend sent me this. Later, he clarified that if OMG is for Oh my God, then OMB stands for Oh my Buddha. I was like huh??? Bravo and that's where I decided to outsmart him with OMTPK!!!!!! You may wonder what's that? Not to keep you hanging on, it's Oh my Tua Pek Kong! Okay, enough of this nonsense. It's not meant to be offensive or disrespect to the Almighty and enlightened ones but for a good laugh. Blessings to all.....

Couldn't stop laughing

I couldn't stop laughing on the video on Kong Hee Abba with Jacky Chan and One Singapore with Stephen Chow. No comment on the content but it's real funny. I wonder who were the jokers who created and posted these videos.

Okay, we have 25% of the long weekend left. That is to say we have one more day to go. Basically, we spent the day at home with the plumbers came to fix up our water closets. Professional being professional, they had all the tools and parts ready. A job well done.

Unfortunately, my air-con fan coil in my bedroom started to drip this afternoon. Damn 'suay' lah. I rectified the problem by clearing the jelly in the drain pipe with my vacuum cleaner. Luckily, it works. A check with our record shows the last maintenance was after the lunar new year. OMG! It's been more than half a year. Margaret called and arranged the next appointment to be on 24 August 2013. Till then...

Ready for the new season 2013/2014

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to our Muslim friends.

Good news. We signed up with SingTel on BPL cross-carried on our StarHub TV after reading a $600 rebate advert today. It's quite a saving. We should be able to watch the matches on the opening day on 17 August 2013. Cheers!

Buzzy

At last, the much awaited long weekend with two public holidays has arrived. It's Hari Raya Puasa tomorrow and Singapore National Day the next day. However, the gate of Hell opens today - the 1st day of the 7th Lunar Month. What a 'buzzy' week indeed!

I posted 2 photographs of Chinese puppet show on the Facebook and a friend called to check whether I am in Taiwan. No, I took them at the Redhill neighbourhood celebrating Zhong Yuan Jie. As I mentioned in my earlier blog, I will be returning to my Newton project on Monday.

More at ease

It's the first time in more than a week that I feel peaceful and at ease with my gastric reflux. Carrying the bloated tummy with all the gas generating up to my chest is not a joke. Got to be careful with what I eat and more importantly not to overeat. What to do? I was born in the Year of the Pig. Need I say more?

Leaving Redhill soon

I love the way my boss commented at the meeting this afternoon. He said something like that, ' It's honeymoon for you at the Newton Project for another 2 months.'  Gosh! Finally, I am leaving this Redhill neighbourhood after 2 over months. It is here that I get to know the company bunch of core staff. Yes, I have a good colleague and friend in Dennis Tan. Like me, he is leaving here and heading to his new project in Tampines. One thing for sure, we will miss the Redhill Market and the people there too especially the old uncles we get to know at breakfast. Meantime, it's business as usual till the D-Day....

A new month

Me and Margaret were not in the best of our health last month. Hopefully, this new month August would be better for us. That is to say less sickness and taking less medicine. Bring back the happy & healthy days!

I had a mini gathering with my former secondary classmates 2 days ago. Four of us had a simple dinner at my neighbourhood coffee shop. Just updated our status with all of them travelling overseas in the coming months. We will try and arrange a bigger one but it's never easy with some of the them preferring weekend gathering. However, it's family time for the majority. No matter what, we need to keep on trying for old time sake.

Bon voyage to those who are travelling this month. In fact, Margaret will be away in Taipei in one of the weekends. As for me, I will stay put in Singapore.
