D, E, F.... the better grade

I was chatting with this colleague of mine this evening. There is something I learned which I wish to share with all of you. Raj, who is taking a degree (honor) course in civil engineering, told me that nowadays everyone is hoping for a D, E, F grade instead of A, B, C. When queried, he explained that A, B, C stands for Alright, Best and Common wherelse D, E, F stands for Distinction, Excellent and Fantastic. So, the next time your children return with a D, E, F grade ........ reward them. LOL.

Lousy March

March is such a long and lousy month with no public holiday in it. In fact, me and Margaret had booked a 5-day tour to Sichuan starting today. With my mother's condition and Joseph's recent surgery, we had no choice but to call it off and forteited S$500. We are trying to redeem the loss from our travel insurance. Alleluia! Joseph has been discharged and is resting at home.

Evening edition

My 87-year-old paternal 3rd Uncle who is in a wheelchair visited my mother this afternoon. Though she was sleeping, she tried opening her eyes to acknowledge his presence. It was so emotional that I can't help but to let my tears down. OMG! I just got to turn away in order not to let her see me in such a sad manner. This is the first time I shed tears since she was diagnosed with this deadly illness months ago. For so long I have been brave and strong and hope to continue to be so. After some time, I went to the vending machine to get a cold drink and left the place feeling very depressed.

Joseph rocks!

Finally, Joseph completed his postrate surgery on Thursday. He is recovering and hopefully, can be discharge today. He was comfortable and chatty when I visited him yesterday. Right on! We wish to see him rock n roll again.

A lunch date with Pipi, Winston and Tuah Kiat on Thursday. It's long overdue and always nice to meet up with them. By the way, we accepted Winston's proposal and lunch in at Swenson (United Square) with its one-for-one promotion. Good to hear that everyone is doing well especially at this difficult time. Hopefully we can have Lee Hoon and Christina at our next gathering. Cheers!

Very scared

OMG! It scares the hell out of him that his blood pressure shot up to 210. Joseph, my father-in-law, was supposed to undergo a postrate surgery today. But the doctor called it off for fear of complication arises should they proceed. Tell me who is not afraid. Moreover, he is 80-year-old. Well, I understand they postpone the surgery to this coming Thursday. I pray that he overcomes his fear and may the surgery be successful.

Buzzing.... 15 Mar 2009

What a night for the English Premier League football! Liverpool temperory halt Man U from sky-rocketing upward with a 4 - 1 victory. The best of all is Arsenal trounced Blackburn 4 goals to nil after three goalless draw at home for the past weeks. Keep it up!

It's good to hear that Francis Soh is recovering well from his recent heart bypass operation. Thanks Serene for the oversea call and the concern over my mother's condition. And not forgetting the jokes we shared. LOL.

Evening edition

OK. My mother is bedridden. Kemp and Margaret had a good chat with her and managed to see her smile again. Before we left, she was happily tired and took a nap. I sincerely hope no one would exploit the unfortunate situation she is in but to give her love, yes more love and happiness. Once again, thank you to our friends and well wishers for their prayers, care and concern.

Have a pleasant Sunday

It's my one and only rest day of the week. In fact Margaret had commented that I spent more time at my workplace than at home. It is true for the fact that we work into the night, rain or shine. Oops! I am referrring to the moonlight instead. Sad to say, Margaret has to visit my mother on my behalf after work on weekdays. There were times where she fell ill herself and gave the visit a miss. Whatever, we would like to thank our friends for their care and concern.

What the buzz....7 Mar 2009

Bravo! Fyn had done reasonably well in her GCE 'A' level and I understand she should be able to enrol herself into a local university.

Time flies and Smily is preparing for his ORD comes 12 March 2009. That is to say that he has finally completed serving the 2 years of National Service. Well, I would encourage him to continue his education path in a local or private university too.

More pictures from Joseph's party

It's rather frustrating to watch my favourite football team [Arsenal] play nowadays. They simply lack of strikers who can put the ball into the net. Known as the 'draw specialist' of late, they have been dropping points and sliding down the table. I doubt they can be in the top 4 this season and qualify for the European Champions' League 09/10.
