Card and deposit promotions

'Papaya Sisters' from 881 in Toa Payoh

Am I that rich? Recently, I have been receiving phone calls from various banks to participate in their credit card and fixed deposit promotions. I do not know how and where they got my particulars. Then there was this girl asking me if I was Mr Kevin Ng. When I said yes, she began her promotion with, "Mr Poh, blah blah blah...." I was like, huh??? I do not understand why she changed my surname. Even if I have the money, I would never trust her with it. Blur Queeeeen!!!!!

Annual pay increment

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. The winner takes it all, the loser has to fall. But not necessary so. I am refering to my workplace today. The happy faces tell you that they got an increment. Sadly, my good friend didn't. He was totally disappointed. As for me, I am in this project recently. Do you think I deserve a pay rise? Your guess is as good as mine.

I had a farewell dinner with Pinky last night. He took an early flight this morning and should be reunited with family members in Hong Kong by now. On behalf of Margaret, thank you for the beautiful purse. Till we meet again, CCCCCCCCHEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boroburdur Temple in Singapore. Sure. I took this picture while passing by Ngee Ann City this evening. I was attracted by the rehearsal music of this gamelan orchestra. On reaching the set out, me and Margaret realised that they were preparing for the 2 days Indonesia Fair starting tomorrow. Check it out!

Friends can become strangers

Perhaps I gonna lost this particular friend for he has betrayed me. Greed for money. Yes..... I do not wish to elaborate any further. Sad but it's not a big deal for I just got to know him not too long ago.

Talking about friendship, I found my former campus mate, Cyril Chee, thru Facebook. I wrote to him to confirm his identity and to my surprise, he replied and I quote ' Yes and you the Kevin, class bandboy who compose the song "the saddest thing I know" ... right? I remember.' unquote. Mine oh mine! That song, Broken Man, was composed and played live in our campus concert in 1978. It's been so long........ Thank you Cyril and I hope to have a chance to perform for all you guys again.

What's the buzz.... 18 Jul 2008

I am on medical leave today. With an ulcer beneath my tongue and a slight infection on my right eye, I decided to consult my family doctor and have a day rest. Moreover, my tummy is going heywire too. Talking about that, poor Margaret has been suffering from gastric reflux for the past week. Guess she is in TTSH consulting a specialist there. Most probably she is too stress out at her workplace. Pray and hope that she has a speedy recovery.

Okay, I had been invited by this so-call colleague, Rajkumar to join Facebook and got a fright when I was at the 'People You May Know' feature. Both Smily and Fyn appeared in those columns. Of course, I didn't add them as my friends. For a moment, I thought it's meant for youngsters. But then, I noticed a number of friends of my age group in it. Will blog more about it should I discover new interesting features.

Do you believe in fate? Well, I do. Met this good friend of mine, Tay Yeok Tze, at my workplace last Friday. The last time we were together was in 1993. Besides Dr Stanley Quek, I consider him as the other mentor of mine. Believe we will be working together for the next one or two years unless one of us call it a day. Worst still, both of us sack our bosses. LOL.

Shopping ....

A lady's favourite pastime is shopping and Margaret is no exception. With my working schedule more relax at the present moment, I spent the weekend accompanying her running around shopping centres and malls looking for bargains. Though the Great Singapore Sale 2008 is coming to an end, it's a fruitful bargain-hunting experience for we were able to get most of the items at 50% discount. Shopping was not only restricted to Orchard Road, we went to Tampines Mall too.
This evening we visited my mother and mother-in-law. We bought my mum a bottle of Japanese 100% peppermint oil and she loves it. It helps in Margaret's migrane problem. As for my mum-in-law, she longed to have a key pouch and her wish was fulfilled too. Well, I couldn't ask for more when both my mother and in-law are happy and smiling.
Finally, cheers to Francis Ng for winning the five numbers in the Toto draw. God of Fortune is on his side. Rock on and looking forward to more mangoes from him. Dear oh dear! More good news. Congratulation to Patrick Ng on his new car too. Toyota Camri rockzzz !

S'pore Food Festival 2008

Yo! How in the world could we miss this festival? That's why we were there this evening. I am talking about the Singapore Food Festival @ Lau Pa Sat.The stretch of Boon Tat Road is closed to traffic and me, Margaret and Fyn had our dinner in the middle of the road. What an experience for them!!!
Fyn went for the ice-ball @ $1 each. Back in my childhood days, they were selling at 5 cents each. Yes, you didn't read wrongly. 5 cents each.Time flies and money is getting smaller.
We had satay, popiah and others for dinner. Talking about satay, I began to have doubts that it's a local Malay food after watching a Chinese variety show on TV. In it, they were saying that satay were originated from China and brought here by the early Hokkien immigrants. The word satay means 'three pieces' in Hokkien. If you observe carefully, each stick of satay consists of 3 pieces of meat. Whatever, who cares?
Back to Lau Pa Sat, we had a band playing live music with lots of '60s hits from Cliff Richard and the Shadows, The Hollies, etc. Let the good times roll.......

Working Break

Thank goodness! I am having a break in my work i.e. no need to work overtime for the time being. I managed to catch up with a few old friends in the past few days. It's always nice to have a cup of coffee with them and chat the night away. Jokes, jokes, jokes and more jokes. Life is full of laughter. Thank you. My friends ROOOOOCCCCCCCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. I hope to meet up with those busy ones too.
