Sunny Sunday

Good morning. The weather looks good and it's hot. I woke up a bit late cos' I was downloading some chinese songs from Margaret's phone to mine last night and at the same time watching a Taiwanese musical awards on TV. By the time we retired to bed, it's way past midnight.
We have not plan our programme for the day. Maybe me and Margaret will do window shopping at Orchard. Her hospitalisation leave expires on 1 July 2009. Guess I need to encourage her to walk a bit more. Needless to say, the cold air in those shopping malls are most comforting. What's more with a cup of coffee together with a piece of cheese cake in between in one of those cafes . Oh yes, Bakerzin is giving a 50% discount on its cheese cake for the month of June. Check it out!

Goodbye MJ

Like him or not, there is no dispute that he is the King of Pop. Who else but Michael Jackson who was the icon of our time / generation after Elvis Presley and the Beatles. No doubt I am into heavy metal, he was admired by me not only for his music but as a complete entertainer too. I confess I did learnt his moonwalk with a little success during my younger days. Haha..
Take away his scandals. His music, slick moves and fashion will always be remembered. Now he sings in heaven's chorus with God's angels. Rest in peace MJ.

Not taking request

There are lots of hoo-ha (s) at my workplace . Staff were laid off because of lack of new projects. Clash of personalities and the fear of being told to go. Everyone is guarding and protecting their own interest. Gossip, gossip, gossip ! In my working life, I hardly work in a big organisation. Believe me, I am finding it hard to follow their latest update. Gosh.... totally lost. Will keep the blog posted on this interesting issue. Will I be the born-loser? God knows. : )

Father's Day 2009

Unable to update my blog yesterday not because I was busy but my PC broke down. Strangely it returns to normal today. Anyway it's better late than never. To all you fathers, 'Happy Father's Day'.
I would like to thank both Smily and Fyn for the 'Gap polo-shirt' present and not forgetting my wife Margaret for arranging the dinner. In fact I renewed my phone service contract and upgraded my phone to Nokia N86. Guess that's a present I bought myself for this occasion. Cheers!

What the buzz....17 Jun 2009

A few brothers called and were concerned on our financial aspect since my children are going to the university in the coming months. Francis Ng gave me a suggestiion / proposal should we need the money. I assured him that we are able to cope. You see, we have been saving for them since they were young. Thank you brothers.

After the serious chat, I was joking with Francis that I wish to borrow a token sum for my family to tour Hokkaido. He gave me a classic reply that I need to pay a much higher interest for that. Hey you rawk!

It's been a week since Margaret had her knee surgery. She is recovering well too. We would like to thank our eldest sister-in-law Jeanette for consistantly called to monitor her progress. Her care and concern do really speed up Margaret's recovery. Once again, merci beaucoup.

Another rocker

I crossed path with a musician who works as a Mechanical / Electrical engineer yesterday. The conversation started with his Frank Zappa T-shirt and as we continued, I discovered he listens to Jimmy Hendrix, Gun and Roses, etc. OMG! Another rocker who plays the rythme guitar and harmonica.
I also came to know that a member of a 70s' rock band now works as a security guard. Sad but that's life. Musicians are passionate people who live for the love of music and nothing else. If only the head rules and the heart follows.....

Thumbs up !!

Smily has confirmed his place at the UniSIM. Though we are glad that both our kids have make it to the university, it's going to be a heavy burden to see them through for the next 3 years. The road is long with many winding turns but it's really worth it should they make it by then. We will continue to struggle and support them in whichever way and pray that they will be able to cope with the pressure and stress. They ain't heavy, they are our children.

Drainage removal

Just an update. Margaret is recovering well except that her drainage and bandage are still intact. It's rather silly for the hospital to refer us to the polyclinic. We went there yesterday and were told that they don't perform this service. We were not disappointed for we accept the fact that civil service never improve and it's wasting a lot of time. Moreover it's not only retards a patient's recovery but aggravate their suffering. Talking about changing from 3rd World to 1st World standard. Huh ???

Evening edition
The doctor finally removed the drainage connecting to her knee when Margaret went to SGH for her appointmnet today. She has to return to the polyclinic to change her dressing on Monday. Hopefully she don't return home empty handed.

Margaret's knee surgery

Margaret's knee has just been operated on this morning. She is resting at home at this moment. Though it's considered as a minor sugery, I would prefer her to be warded for a day or two. The problem is she has to go to the polyclinic tomorrow to remove her bandage and the following day back to SGH for the specialist follow-up. Whatever, I am praying for her to get well soon.

Have a speedy recovery dear!

I'm done

Gosh! I spent 2 hours in my salon to have my hair done. Basically the whole morning was gone but it's worth it. Now my hair is short and neat while my head is lighter. Margaret and a few friends were commenting that I don't look good with long hair anymore. Needless to say, when the youth is gone and with a slightly longer hair, naturally the look will be more matured, haggard and unsightly.

Now that I have managed to get my friends to service my air-con and re-install my refute chute cover, the next thing I need to do for my house is re-painting. It's going to cost me at least $2000+. Worst still, my common toilet is leaking from above. In the other words, I have to re-tile my toilet floor and wall and change all the sanitary fittings and accessories. What about the other two toilets? Argh........!!!!!!!!!

Air-con servicing

Hot hot hot!!! I am refering to the weather. To make the matter worse, my bedroom's air-con is not functioning well. A check with my contractor and I agree with him that the fancoil needs chemical washing. The last time he came over my place for servicing was about 3 years ago. I am able to do the basic maintainance but on this coming Wednesday, I'll let the professionals do the job.

What a joke ! You wouldn't believe my electrician friend, Ah Song, came over my place yesterday to fix the refuge chute cover. I love the way he commented after the installation, I quote, ' After 40 years working as an electrician, this is the 1st time I am dealing with refute chute'. No doubt I bought him a dinner the night before but he deserves more than that. Okay, I will buy him another meal. Guess that will make me feel better. Thank you very much Ah Song.
