Mid-Autumn festival

The Mid-Autumn festival falls on the 25th of September this year. As usual we went to Takashimaya carnival for mooncake sampling. I would say most of the stalls are generous and happy to welcome you to sample their products except for one or two so-called 'branded' stalls. They hide their samples behind their counters and discriminate customers before offering them. As a typical Teochew, I like the Eater Palace yam-paste mooncake and would buy a few boxes every year.

This festival is meaningless without the colourful lanterns especially fot the kids. This is the only time they are allowed to play with fire under the watchful eyes of their parents. As for the younger kids, a battery operated light bulb lantern is strongly recommended.

Tanjong Pagar market/hawker centre will be closed from tomorrow to 27 October 2007 for renovation. Gonna miss my favourite 'lor mee' there. Hopefully when it reopens, the price remains the same. Guess the lunchtime crowd will head to Maxwell Market/Foodcourt.
