A Summary of Dongbei Autumn 2011 Trip

We touched down at the Changi Airport at 11.30 pm last night after a 8-hour flight from Dalian China. Oh yes, the flight included an hour transit at Hefei. It's pretty fast that 10 days had gone by and we had travelled the major cities of Northeast China. Everyday we had to take an average of 4 hours of bus ride to reach our next destination. The only regret is that there were simply too few places of interest in the itinerary. So, we were left with too much time to spare each day.

The Dongbei cuisine were oily and salty which did not suit us well. There were lots of vegetable with little meat accompanied with chunk of fats. The fresh water fish came with many bones in between. But we love the short and fat sticky rice.

We stayed at 4 to 5 star hotels throughout. The setback was they were away from the buzzing town. Often we had to take a taxi down. Luckily, the fares were cheap as compared to Singapore.
Looking back, the trip was relaxing. We are happy to have visited the 3 main destinations i.e. St Sophia Church Square, Mt. Changbai and Panjin Red Beach. Overall, I would give 3 points out of 5 for the whole trip.
