Visiting my mother and mother-in-law

It was a hectic day visiting my mother in the morning and mother-in-law in the afternoon. After waking my children up at about 10 am, both of them came down to the Living Room to greet us. An hour later, Patrick came to fetch us to my mother's place at Queenstown. Upon arrival, PK and his family's members were already there. Slowly, my the other brothers, sister, in-laws and their children started to arrived. Believe me, that 3-room flat was packed. I could feel the atmosphere. A New Year atmoshpere.





It's time for lunch. We have to thank PK, his wife and Lucy, my mother's maid. They worked very hard to prepare the lunch. I believe that most of us skipped our breakfast this morning and that was most probably our first meal of the year.





As the table was too small to accomodate everyone at one go, each family took turn to have their meal. After lunch, we stayed back to chit chat for another hour or two. Topic this year included Selina coming wedding next month. Needless to say, I am always the Joker. My mother told me that she was happy to see the children and grandchildren chatting and laughing. Unlike last night reunion diiner, the mood today was causal and relax. That's the spirit for the Lunar New Year. Peace and Harmony!

At about 4 pm, we reached my mother-in-law's place. My in-laws and children were there. Slowly, their relatives began to stream in. It was really crowded. Before long, we started our gambling session with the kids. Andrew was the banker and also the God of Fortune as he was the sole loser. We had our dinner there and reached home at about 8.15 pm.

Fyn reunited with her cousins

As usual, we had our reunion dinner at Tai Seng Restaurant at People's Park Complex this evening. Though not a very big family, we had about 24 members gathered together for this joyous occasion. After the dinner, we proceeded to Chinatown to join in the festive crowd. Couldn't write much as it's just a few minutes away to welcome the New Year. Cheers!

The countdown continues. 2 more days and it's goodbye to Mr Piggy. Looking back, there isn't anything spectacular for us in this Pig year. Still we are thankful for the blessing especially in term of good health and happiness. I understand this coming year of the Rat brings vitality and prosperity. Cheers!

Stuffing food for CNY

3 more days to Chinese New Year. Believe most of my Malaysian friends are back in their hometown. The past few days were not only to shop for new clothings but for food at supermarket too. We were brought up with the belief to fill up the fridge for the New Year so that the year ahead there would be food abundance. You can call me a kiasu for our fridge is almost full. Wait a minute, my mother-in-law has 2 refrigerators and a cooler box and they are full already. Super kiasu? LOL. Pardon me, they are having their reunion dinner at home and naturally, they have more stuff than us. Btw, I have another cooler box on standby just in case she need it. Haha.....

A damn busy week in my work. Apologies to my 'kakis' for not being able to have coffee with you all. I promise to show up should there be any Lunar New Year gatherings.

Margaret was excited and happy when she recieved a cheque of $1500 from a local bank. At the last CNY period, we put in a small amount in their structured deposit promotion. In fact, we were talking about it recently and couldn't be bothered to check the status. The reason is simple : we didn't expect much. As the saying goes, "it's easier for money to find you than you going around looking for money." That's another pre-CNY ang pow. The God of Fortune has arrived! Believe there's more to come. :)

Happy birthday Margaret!

Happy birthday to my dearest wife, Margaret. She celebrated with her colleagues with an Italian lunch this afternoon. They bought her a birthday cake too. As it is a working day today, we could only celebrate with her in the evening. In attendance were me, Smily, Fyn and Sheryl. We had dinner in a Japanese restuarant at Novena Square as per the birthday girl's wish. Me, Margaret and Sheryl enjoyed the assorted sashimi that came with our bento sets. Gosh, the last time I had it was months ago. Both Smily and Fyn have no appetite for this delicacy and they ordered their sets without it. Apparently, Sheryl was first introduced to us at Margaret's celebration last year. Happy 1st Anniversary to her too. Cheers!
