Zhong Yuan Jie 2007 will be from 13 Aug 2007 - 11 Sep 2007. It is also known as the Seventh Lunar Month Festival or the Hungry Ghost Festival. It is usually celebrated with a praying session to thank the blessings of our ancestral spirits and organising a Getai perfomance that accompanied with a dinner. This year, the getai kick-off tonight at the carpark besides Tanjong Katong Complex. Are you afraid of the dark????



Evening edition: Lucky, lucky Arsenal! I watched the last 20 minutes of the match as I had dinner with my family earlier. Arsenal was trailing by a goal to Fulham then. It was not until the last 10 minutes that they scored 2 goals. Final result : Arsenal 2 Fulham 1 What a way to start the season! Ole...ole ole ole.... ole...... ole....

National Day 2007

Cold Rock, Botak Jones

$80 for this plate of ice cream?


Yes, you didn't read wrongly. Me, Margaret and Fyn had dinner at Holland Village last evening. I became their tour guide after having our stomachs filled. By chance, we came arcoss this Cold Rock ice creamery from Australia at Jalan Mambong. This outlet was totally new to us and we went in as Fyn couldn't resist to have a scoop. It cost $6 for a regular cup of ice cream. She ordered chocolate flavour and asked for waffle and bear gummy toppings. She was totally surprised when the cashier asked her for $8 as each topping cost a dollar each. LOL. What an experience!

Smily and Sheryl had their dinner at Botak Jones American Food instead. The Toa Payoh outlet is at Block 970A Toa Payoh North. They ordered a set of fish and chips and grill chicken. In fact, Margaret and I had dinner there last week. Coincidentally, we ordered the same sets too. The chicken was tasty but not the breaded fish. Moreover the French fries were too much for us. Anyway, it's kind of cute to see both of them puff and pant after their dinner. I am quite sure they overeat and their tummies were bloated.

EPL 07/08

The English Premier League is back. The Community Shield ( formerly known as Charity Shield ) match today is between last season EPL Champions Manchester United and the FA Cup holder Chelsea. Proceeds from the match will go to charity. Statistics show that the winner of this shield would not go on to win league title or the UEFA Championship. Guess it's a jinx. So, good luck Man U and Chelsea.
As for my Arsenal, the youngsters look good in the pre-season. It's interestimg to see what Arsene Wenger has up his sleeve. Carry on kicking!!!

Weekend @ lounges

Me and Margaret at Victoria Bar

Thank God It's Friday! Well, the weekend is here again. There are some young friends who asked, "Kev, where did you hang out during your younger days?" Eh..... ok.... I love music. So most of the weekend I would bring Margaret to a lounge. Of course, I arranged my rock steady friends to be there too. We would usually ended up at Victoria Bar (former Cockpit Hotel) or Ion Bar (former Apollo Hotel). Their resident bands were Shang and Gingerbread. They played pop and disco music. At times they had guest rock band like Heritage, Unwanted and Speedway. The guys would have beer while most of the ladies drank non-alcoholic drinks.

Disco was cool at that time too but we prefered to enjoy the live music at those lounges. Time has changed and today we are talking about pubs and karaokes. Wonder what will be next craze?

Alive and kicking!

After 2 days of anti-biotics, I am very much alive and kicking. No more gastric reflux. Hope it remains that way. Wanna have my sashimi soon. Rock on!!!!!!!
